Verse of the Day
“Tell me this one thing: How did you receive the Spirit? Did you receive the Spirit by following the law? No, you received the Spirit because you heard the message about Jesus and believed it.” — Galatians 3:2 ERV
Lesson of the Day
God knew that we were struggling with sinning, so He made a plan to save us from ourselves. He witnessed His people repeatedly failing to keep His laws and therefore sinning. He was angry with them a lot. However, He still loved them so much so that He made Jesus Christ the sacrificial lamb to save us all once and for all eternity.
If you’re not aware of the stories of God’s people and forgiveness, God’s chosen people had to sacrifice an animal every time they sinned, and most times it was a lamb. Jesus took the place of the lamb. However, Jesus’s sacrifice lasts forever. That’s how we’re covered for any sins of the past, present, and future. This reason alone should have you jumping up and down shouting hallelujah, Thank You Jesus Christ! Now let me make this clear; Jesus Christ made the sacrifice but we don’t receive that eternal forgiveness if we don’t believe. We must believe. Once we believe, the comforter that Jesus left behind when He ascended into Heaven equips us with His fruits. These are the same fruits that Jesus Christ was equipped with when He walked the Earth.
Encouragement
Be encouraged, we now know that if we believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, we will be saved Acts 16:31, and Ephesians 2:8-9 tells us that we’re saved by grace through faith, and it’s a gift from God, not from our own works so nobody can boast. So we are saved but the changes in a believer’s life isn’t the requirement to get saved—it’s the evidence that salvation actually happened! Like James 2:26 says, faith without works is dead. The faith comes first, and the life change naturally follows because God is working in you through the Holy Spirit. Tomorrow we will discuss what the Holy Spirit gives us.
Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for salvation. If You didn’t love us so much we would all be condemned to hell, but You love us and You want us with You in the new Heaven and Earth. You did the hard work and what we need to do is minute compared to Your sacrifice. We could never thank You enough but we can accept Your perfect gift. Guide us through this life Lord and help us to be people that You can be happy that You made the sacrifice for. You are everything that we need and You provide everything that we need and more. In Jesus Christ name we pray amen.
