Verse of the Day
"But the fruit that the Spirit produces in a person's life is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these kinds of things." — Galatians 5:22-23 ERV
Lesson of the Day
We discussed believing the message about Jesus Christ saving us from our sins, and once you believe you receiving the Holy Spirit, yesterday. What does receiving the Holy Spirit mean? Well, before Jesus Christ left the Earth, He said that God will send the comforter (the Holy Spirit) for us to help us live the Christian Life. The Holy Spirit is God living in us. He helps us live as Christians. He gives us the fruits of the Spirit which is listed in our verses today. Without Him we wouldn't be able to:
-
Love
- Love others as we love ourselves
- Love those who persecute us.
-
Joy
- Have joy when our world is turning upside down.
- Be joyful for others even when it's hard to be.
-
Peace
- Have peace in the midst of a storm.
- Keep the peace when others disturb it.
-
Patience
- Have patience with someone hard to deal with.
- Be patient waiting on God to answer a prayer.
-
Kindness
- Be kind to neighbors and strangers.
- Be kind to your haters and to your enemies.
-
Goodness
- Be good to others.
- Be good to someone who isn't good to others.
-
Faithfulness
- Be faithful to Christ.
- Be faithful to family and friends.
-
Gentleness
- Be gentle with neighbors and strangers.
- Be gentle with family and friends.
-
Self-Control
- Control your flesh to abide by God's ways.
- Control yourself in tempting situations.
When Jesus walked the Earth as man and God, He performed many miracles, resisted the devil, fasted and prayed, and He never sinned. Some argue that He was God so He could refrain from sinning, but Jesus was tempted too. He was able to stay faithful to God, live a goodly life, and resist temptation because He was equipped with the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit leads you so that you can live a godly life and resist the devil (temptation).
Encouragement
I'd like to encourage you today to be joyful because not only are you saved (if you believe), but you have the helper, comforter, and guide that will help you succeed in living a faith filled Christian life. We have that. Can you see that God wants this for you, for us all. He made the way and we just need to walk it out and rely on His generosity. It's like signing up to get a degree and having all of the answers to the quizzes, tests, and final exams. With all of that you know that you'll be getting that degree. So just know that we will be getting into Heaven.
Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father thank You for Your ways. You made it possible for us to be with You in Heaven in spite of our human ways. You made sure that we couldn't mess it up for ourselves. It's fool proof. You said no one can pluck us out of Your hands. We believe in Your son Jesus Christ who sacrificed His life for our sins. We thank You for leaving the Holy Spirit here for us. Thank You for giving us a part of You to guide us through this Christian life. We thank You for Your love. We thank You for Your grace and mercy. We thank You for being the only true living God. Forgive us for anything that we may have done to disappoint You. Continue to lead us so that we may be Your vessel to tell others about Your wonderful gifts. In Jesus name we pray, amen.
