Verse of the Day
"So I tell you, live the way the Spirit leads you. Then you will not do the evil things your sinful self wants."
Galatians 5:16 ERV
Lesson of the Day
Living the way the Spirit leads you isn't like being possessed by a Spirit who controls your every move. God gave us free will. He will not make you do anything that you don't want to do. That's why He gives us a choice to accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior or not. The offer is there along with the benefits.
Well, the Holy Spirit is one of the benefits of salvation. You must activate this benefit by opening the door for Him. You open the door by:
- Reading and studying God's Word Daily
- Praying at all times
- Loving God with all your mind, heart, and soul.
- Praising God
- Wanting to live for Christ.
- Going to church and spending time together with like-minded Christians.
- Putting on your whole armor (we will discuss this later)
As you do these things, you activate the Holy Spirit. You already have Him living in you if you accepted Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior, but in order for Him to lead you, you must activate Him. If you don't activate Him, then you will continue to live by the flesh, which is your sinful self.
Therefore, accept the gift and then activate the benefits. You won't regret it.
Supporting Scriptures
- Deuteronomy 30:19 — where God sets before us life and death and says choose life.
- Revelation 3:20 — where Jesus stands at the door and knocks. If anyone opens the door He comes in.
- Romans 8:14 — says those who are led by the Spirit are sons of God.
Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father, we praise Your Holy name. You are great and greatly to be praised. There is no one like You. Thank You for Your precious gift. Your gift is the best gift that anyone could receive. How blessed we are to have You and the benefits that You bestow upon us. Your love, guidance, patience, favor, and mercy are more than we can ask for. We lay our lives down and trade them for the abundant life that You give us. Help us to pick up our full armor daily and follow Your lead. In Jesus name, Your humble servants pray, amen.
