Verse of the Day
"That is why you need to get God's full armor. Then on the day of evil, you will be able to stand strong. And when you have finished the whole fight, you will still be standing." — Ephesians 6:13 ERV
Lesson of the Day
As we discussed yesterday, we aren't fighting against people. Evil uses people against us who aren't guarded, but if we have on the whole armor daily, then we will still be standing in the end. I'm not going to keep you waiting any longer.
The full armor of God is:
- The belt of truth
- The breastplate of righteousness
- The gospel of peace shoes
- The shield of faith
- The helmet of salvation
- The sword of the Spirit
- The lance of prayer
These seven weapons protect us. Paul compares them to the Roman soldier's uniform because they were the best in war. They knew what they needed to win a war and to protect themselves in battle. They went to extreme measures, to be ready for battle, at all times.
Encouragement
Just ponder on these weapons tonight. Maybe even do some research on the Roman soldiers and their uniforms. We will take each weapon and break them down one by one, so that we can understand how to use them and what they protect.
Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father, hallowed be thy name. Thy Kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in Heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors. Lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. You are the Glory and the Power forever. Amen. (We can also pray God's Word, Matthew 6:9-13)
