Verse of the Day
"On your feet wear the Good News of peace to help you stand strong."
Ephesians 6:15 ERV
Lesson of the Day
The third piece of armor is the shoes of peace. The Roman soldier's shoes were killer shoes. They were made of brass and fit like boots. They protected the soldier's legs as he walked through rocky and thorny places. Affixed on the underside were long and dangerous spikes that held the soldiers firmly in place during battle.
When we wear our spiritual shoes, God's peace holds us firmly in place. When the enemy tries to push us out of our position, the peace of God grounds us in Christ so that we become very difficult to move. These shoes also protect us from being beat up or cut up when we trudge through thorny situations and rocky places.
Encouragement
The gospel of peace shoes are not the same as God giving us peace even when all is going wrong in our lives (yes, He does that). This peace is helping you stay planted in the truth of the gospel. I remember a time when I tried to change churches and went to a Pentecostal church. Everything sounded biblical until they sat me down and showed me their mission statement. They said that if I can't speak in tongues that I am not saved, because the Holy Spirit comes upon you as soon as you're saved. I had never heard anything like that before. I didn't believe it, so I left that church and never went back. If someone comes along and try to tell you something that isn't biblical, stand firmly on the gospel of peace. There are many false prophets out there. Know the truth and stand on it.
Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father, we give You all of the praise. You are so worthy of being praised. You said don't add nor take away from Your Word. We can stand firmly on Your Word knowing that it is the truth. Thank You for Your peace. We are at peace with You because You sacrificed Your Son just to be at peace with us. Thank You, Lord. Help us to always remember the truth and to not allow anyone or anything to deter us from it. We stand firmly in Your love forever. Forgive us for any thoughts that may go against Your Word and help us to cast down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of You God, and to bring into captivity every thought to the obedience of Jesus Christ. In Jesus Christ's name we pray, amen.
